Renew a prescription during an online consultation
A family doctor can assess whether some regular treatments can be continued during a video consultation. The medicine names on this page are examples that can be discussed. They are not a promise of a prescription.

Book a consultation and say that you need a review of a medicine you already take.
The doctor looks at your history, your current treatment, and any recent results. A renewal is possible only when that review supports it and the rules for that medicine allow a remote prescription.
Iasso Health is a private consultation. This page does not describe a reimbursed prescription from the public insurance fund, and it is not a CNAS-reimbursed prescription.
Documents to prepare
Bring the previous prescription, a list of medicines and doses, important medical history, allergies, and recent blood tests or home readings when they matter. Photos of the boxes are useful.
How the medical review works
The consultation covers why you take the medicine, whether it still fits, side effects, and warning signs. The doctor may continue the treatment, change it, ask for tests, or tell you that an in-person visit is needed.
High blood pressure
Examples that can be discussed include Ramipril, perindopril, losartan, valsartan, amlodipine, and bisoprolol. Home blood-pressure readings help. Very high readings, chest pain, or new neurological symptoms are not a renewal visit.
Type 2 diabetes
Metformin and other long-term diabetes medicines can be reviewed when follow-up and the rules allow it. Glucose readings and HbA1c help. Very high glucose, vomiting, or confusion needs urgent care.
High cholesterol
Atorvastatin and rosuvastatin are examples of lipid treatment that can be discussed for a stable patient. Muscle pain, liver concerns, or missing blood tests may delay a renewal.
Hypothyroidism
Levothyroxine can be reviewed when the dose is already established and a recent thyroid test is available, or when the doctor asks for one.
Stable asthma
Usual inhaled treatment and an established preventive inhaler can be discussed when asthma is stable. Wheeze at rest, blue lips, or trouble speaking needs emergency care, not a renewal.
Mental health medicines
Sertraline, escitalopram, fluoxetine, venlafaxine, and other antidepressants can be discussed when renewal is medically suitable and the person is stable. This is not a service for a psychiatric emergency, suicidal thoughts, or a new unstable illness.
Other treatments that can be discussed
Oral contraception, treatment for chronic allergies, reflux treatment, and some long-term skin treatments can be reviewed. Each one still depends on the medical assessment.
When a renewal can be refused or delayed
The doctor can refuse or postpone a renewal when the diagnosis is unclear, the dose is unsafe, tests are missing, an examination is needed, or the medicine has special restrictions.
Renewal of benzodiazepines, opioids, and other medicines with special restrictions is not offered on this page.
Questions patients ask
Can every chronic medicine be renewed online?
No. Remote renewal is for selected stable treatments, after a consultation, and only when the law and the clinical situation allow it.
Do I need my old prescription?
Yes, if you have it. The name, dose, and how long you have taken the medicine are the minimum.
Is a same-day refill promised?
No. The doctor confirms the appointment and then decides whether a prescription can be issued.
